National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction

Imagine a world where the fear of falling doesn’t hold us back from building something truly remarkable. From May 6 to 10, 2024, we have the 11th annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. This initiative, spearheaded by OSHA, is not just a campaign—it's a call to elevate our commitment to safety. For over a decade, fall protection has remained a critical concern, topping OSHA's list of the Top 10 Most Frequently Cited Standards. It's clear, then, that this is an area where we can improve, where we must improve if we are to inspire and protect every team member on every job site.

During this transformative week, we ask construction companies to do something extraordinary: pause, even just for a moment, to engage deeply with safety practices. This pause is for conducting toolbox talks, inspecting safety equipment, practicing rescue plans, and discussing specific hazards that are unique to each job site. By participating, alongside dedicated partners like the American Society of Safety Professionals, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the National Safety Council, we are not just complying with regulations—we are leading with purpose, ensuring that every person who comes to work goes home safely. This is how we build not just safer workplaces, but a culture of safety that lasts.
