Your employees are your business. How do you, as their employer, help them perform their best every day? By implementing a occupational medicine program in your business.

An occupational medicine program can help your organization maintain a workforce that is medically and physically able to function at peak performance, reducing sick days and workers’ compensation claims. At WSS, we fully acknowledge that preventive services and post-offer screenings are a vital part of controlling excessive workers’ compensation costs and possible lawsuits. The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) does allow an employer to screen qualified applicants to determine their ability to perform essential job functions. An employer may consider withdrawing a job offer if the prospective employee is found to pose risk to himself/ herself or others while performing the essential functions of the job.

According to The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, "Lower health costs benefit both the employer and the employee. In a case study of large companies, total medical spending at a company with an employee wellness program experienced slower growth in health costs than companies without a program. Employees saw meaningful reductions in chronic disease risk factors; and average annual savings per employee were $565 (in 2009 dollars), producing a return on investment equal to a range of approximately $2 to $4 saved per dollar spent on the program."
